Hi, I love getting to know a person and their unique story and coming alongside in their journey towards holistic wellness. In the counseling room I work best with a warm person-centered style, a strengths-based approach, a ton of creativity, and trauma-informed. I use not just talk therapy, but also art therapy approaches.
I am currently in the final year of my masters in Mental Health Counseling with a Concentration in Art Therapy through Pennsylvania Western University and am interning under supervision here at Hope-Centered Wellness Group.
I enjoy working with people of all ages including children (I worked as an upper elementary school teacher in Honduras and a neighboring state before moving to Illinois) and from a variety of walks of life including cultural experiences.
A note on art therapy: it differs from other instances of making art in that the process and the product are all focused on working towards your mental health goals. There is no “good or bad” art in art therapy; the focus is on the use of creativity for our mental health and wellbeing. The creative process itself can bring greater joy and health to our minds and lives, as well as help bring light to issues we are processing and working through.
